Accomplishments from 2020

Updated: Jan 26, 2021

Thank you for your generous donations in 2020. Your support helped us to better our community, reach more girls and build a more robust infrastructure. This year was our most successful year in the history of our organization and it is all because of supporters like you. Every act of your generosity helped us to further our mission.

Because of you, we:

  • Transitioned successfully to an all virtual environment and increased the number of girls we serve from 165 to 211 participants.

  • Finalized new 4th - 12th grade curriculum (1.5 year-long project)

  • Served 1,220 individual residents through our COVID-19 Relief Initiative providing meals, school supplies, laptops, financial stipends, desks / chairs, coats and fidget toys.

  • Purchased a 12-passenger van to be used for our monthly community events and college tours (post-COVID19).

  • Completed 9 programs (Saturday Institute, LOV Club school programming, LOV Grows, STEMuTiful, College & Beyond, How the World Has Hurt Black Girls, COVID19 Relief Initiative, Power to the Professional and LOV 4 Life Alumni Program).

  • Restructured leadership team and promoted several team members to part-time positions including Managing Director of Program Operations and Managing Director of Talent and Training.

  • Hired 4 alumni to lead programming. Sarai (Class of 2019) and Amiya (Class of 2020) are Program Coordinators leading our LOV Club after-school program. Melanie and Keturah (both Class of 2020) will be leading our How the World Has Hurt Black Girls initiative.

  • Maintained the support of our premier funders who have consistently invested in Ladies of Virtue over the past few years: Joseph and Bessie Feinberg Foundation, Chicago Foundation for Women, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of IL, and Sylvie Légère / Bradley Impact Fund.

  • Secured new partnerships and premiere funders including Niantic, Tito's Handmade Vodka, The Ellie Fund at the Jewish Women's Fund, Ferrara, Uncle Remus Saucy Fried Chicken, and JLL.
