Ladies of Virtue Receives PepsiCo Foundation’s Community Impact Grant

(Chicago)., January 13, 2023-- Ladies of Virtue is proud to announce we have been awarded one of PepsiCo Foundation’s Community Impact Grants. The PepsiCo Foundation, is the philanthropic arm of PepsiCo, Inc. (NASDAQ: PEP), one of the world's leading food and beverage companies. The program is a part of the company’s efforts to support local communities by providing resources for valuable programming such as supporting economic opportunities for Black girls and young women. We do this through our career readiness, civic engagement and employment program. This evidence-based program will serve at least 100 girls annually.

Ladies of Virtue is one of 40 public charities and organizations across the country awarded a $25,000 Community Impact Grant. Through strategic partnerships, such as the Community Impact Grant the PepsiCo Foundation seeks to tackle the challenges of inequality by increasing access to food security, water, and economic opportunities.

“We are proud to be a recipient of the PepsiCo Community Impact Grant. When you invest in a Black girl you are also supporting her family and community. Here's to a future where Black girls feel comforted, nurtured, and loved. Thank you PepsiCo!”, Jamila Trimuel, Founder and CEO of Ladies of Virtue said.

PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation provided vital support in response to the unprecedented COVID19 crisis. This grant will provide funding that will have an immediate, direct impact on our community.

“We look up to the community organizations across America that work tirelessly every day to ensure their neighbors thrive,” said C.D. Glin, vice president of the PepsiCo Foundation and global head of philanthropy. “PepsiCo has a long history of working with local partners to invest in communities where our consumers and associates live and work. We’re proud to support these organizations in making lasting change.”

About Ladies of Virtue

Ladies of Virtue launched in 2011 with six girls and has grown to serve 350 girls (ages 9-24) annually who live across Chicago’s South and West Sides. Since our founding, Ladies of Virtue has served more than 2,000 girls and families. Today, we are the only Black founded organization offering a unique community-based model that integrates career readiness training, mentoring, and mental health support specifically for girls.

Ladies of Virtue’s (LOV) mission is to instill purpose, passion, and perseverance in girls, while preparing them for college, careers, and to become change agents in their communities. LOV empowers Black girls to become confident and purpose-driven leaders so they may overcome the challenges of racial inequity and succeed in their careers and communities. We match our girls with culturally aligned, successful women as mentors and prepare our girls for leadership through character development, career readiness, and civic engagement. LOV offers several options, including our signature Power to the Professional career readiness program, STEMuTiful, Saturday Institute, LOV Clubs, College and Beyond, mental health supports, and more. After high school, 80% continue with mentoring through our LOV4Life Alumni Program, which provides workshops on building generational wealth and supports alumni through post-secondary education.
